Week one we discussed Literature and society, and how literature reveals struggles that humanity is facing. We also began reading Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and discussed the Harlem Renaissance and the black experience in the 1950s. Next we talked about Perspective and P.O.V and how each person has a different take on situations. This is seen in our daily lives and in literature. The Literature Circle this week focused on the perspective in the novel as well as present racial issues.
Week 2 - Character
This week we discussed how we as individuals characterize ourselves, as well as what makes good characters in literature. We also discussed stock and flat characters and breaking stereotypes. Over the week we practiced writing character and developing voice.
